Until now, pensioners living abroad have had to obtain a so-called life certificate, issued or confirmed by a public authority in their country of residence, and send it to the Fund. With the implementation of new digital solutions on the Fund’s website and in its internal systems, this is no longer necessary. Login to My Pages takes place using valid electronic ID via phone or app and is therefore considered equivalent to a life certificate.
This new arrangement saves considerable effort, as around 1,000 LSR pensioners have legal residence abroad. They no longer need to obtain a certified life certificate from authorities in their home country and submit it to the Fund. At the same time, it results in significant time savings for the Fund by making the process largely digital instead of manually processing such a large number of life certificates.
Simpler submission for spouse and disability pension recipients
At the same time, it is now easier for spouse and disability pension recipients residing abroad to submit the necessary documents to the Fund. Spouse pension recipients must submit confirmation of marital status annually, and disability pension recipients must submit a copy of their tax return each year.
When it is time to submit these documents, the relevant members receive a reminder by email and a notification on My Pages. They are also given access to a simple form on My Pages where they can conveniently upload the required documents. In this way, the documents are delivered directly into the Fund’s information system, meaning far fewer manual steps in handling them for the Fund’s staff.
Three login options
It is possible to log in to My Pages using electronic ID on a phone, the Auðkenni app, or a new login method via Evrotrust.
- Electronic ID on a phone is issued at Auðkenni registration centres in Iceland.
- The Auðkenni app is a simple, convenient and secure way to verify identity online and carry out legally valid electronic signatures. The app can be used anywhere in the world, regardless of phone number, but a valid Icelandic passport is required.
- Evrotrust is best suited for those who do not have a valid Icelandic passport. To use it, you must install the Evrotrust app and complete the registration process explained here. A passport from one of the countries supported by Evrotrust is required, which includes most European countries and Iceland’s other main trading partners.
