New Pension Applications Launched

LSR has now launched a new version of its pension applications, which is much simpler for fund members than the previous application process, while also making processing easier for staff.

The new pension applications are based on LSR’s new application system on My Pages, and the first applications in the system were launched toward the end of last year. The applications are smart in the sense that the system automatically fills in information already known about the applicant, and only questions relevant to the rights of the individual fund member are displayed.

For example, if an applicant only has rights in Division A of LSR, questions relating to Division B are not shown. Likewise, fund members in Division B only fill in information relevant to their rights. As a result, in most cases the application is much simpler and easier for fund members to understand than the previous application, which displayed all fields for both divisions.

Once an application has been signed, the application system transfers the data directly into the fund’s systems, reducing manual data entry, minimizing the risk of errors, and simplifying staff processing.

The applications are available in both Icelandic and English, making the process easier for fund members who do not have Icelandic as their first language.

Pension applications are the most common applications received by LSR, with the fund receiving more than 2,500 such applications each year. This development is therefore a significant improvement in LSR’s service and a major step in the fund’s digital journey. In the coming months, even more types of applications will be moved into the new system.
